The Ronde des Caps, is a half countryside marathon open to everyone, taking place in Sainte-Anne, in the extreme south of the island. Mrs. Roy-Camille sought to build upon Mr. Letchimy’s recent efforts to foster closer ties between Martinique and its fellow Caribbean neighbor states during the UN visit. A meeting was held with H.E John W. Ashe, President of the 68th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations and a Former Permanent Representative of Antigua & Barbuda, who, along with Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, leads the new development agenda toward the eradication of poverty. “We may be small as individual island states, but together we stand strong; both in honoring the dark memory of our shared past, and also in working together to build a brighter future.” Read more:

A taste of Martinique in your kitchen! Vegan Recipe


Papaya Fritters


  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 generous cups of papaya
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 cup of water
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 chopped onion
  • 2 crushed garlic claves
  • 1 bouquet garni (thyme and laurel)
  • 1/2 hot pepper, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil, for frying


Remove the skin and soak the papaya in water. Boil for 15 minutes. Crush the papayas with a fork into a small bowl. Set aside In a medium-sized bowl, stir together the flour and baking soda and then stir in the water until the mixture is combined. Add the bouquet garni, hot pepper, onion, crushed garlic and crushed papaya. Season with salt and pepper. Let rest for 15 minutes. In a large skillet, heat the oil to 375Fo. Drop the dough into the hot oil by the teaspoonful, allowing the fritters to cook until golden brown, about 1 ½ minutes.  Drain on a paper towel and then transfer to a plate and keep warm. Serve warm. Bon appétit!
