ADDITIONAL SUMMER AIR SERVICE WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES!

American Airlines offers additional non-stop service between Miami and Fort-de-France.

American Airlines to Martinique

It is now much easier for US travelers to get to Martinique as American Airlines recently launched an additional weekly non-stop to the island. American Airlines flies weekly to Martinique on Saturdays out of Miami.

In addition to its Saturday flight, Fort-de-France Wednesday flight out of Miami will resume from June 11th to August 13th 2014. A great way to ensure clear skies ahead for this summer!

THE “GRANDS” RUMS OF MARTINIQUE ONCE AGAIN HONORED

Martinican rum was awarded 10 gold medals at the “Salon de l’Agriculture” held in Paris, February 2014.

3rd EDITION MARTINIQUE YOLE FESTIVAL

May 29th will mark the 3rd edition of the Martinique Yole Festival held in Saint-Anne. This is a unique opportunity for our visitors to experience firsthand, the thrill of a Yole race and be introduced hands on to this 100% made in Martinique water sport activity.

Yole boats featured in the race are constructed with painstaking detail in the grand tradition of Martinican fishing vessels initially developed by local craftsmen in the 70’s.  Each vessel flies brightly colored rectangular sails over rounded canoe-like wooden hulls made from local Pear trees.  As distinctive in style as they are challenging to sail, quick and agile yawl boats test the mettle of even the most experienced sailors; their rounded hulls ensuring an instant capsize if ever the vessels should come to a stop at sea.

This is an amazing feat of coordination, endurance, and skill.

The famous annual Yole boat race of Martinique is scheduled this year from July 27th to August 3rd.

MARTINIQUE WILL PROUDLY HOST THE 42nd  EDITION OF THE CARIFTA GAMES – APRIL 18th to 21st

The CARIFTA Games, the annual athletics competition founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association (CARIFTA) will be held in Martinique, from April 18th to April 21st.

These games’ history dates back in 1972 and consist of track and field events including sprint races, hurdles, middle distance track events, jumping and throwing events, and relays. The Games has two age categories: under-17 and under-20. This inter-Caribbean athletic competition gathers the best junior of 28 nations in the Caribbean propels each year the greatest champions of the world.

COCONUT BLANC MANGE

This is a delicious recipe with coconut to conclude a good meal.

Blanc Mangé Coco Martinique

Ingredients

  • 300 g greated coconut
  • 10 gelatine leaves
  • 75 cl milk
  • ½ liter heavy cream (crème fleurette)
  • 250 g coarse-grained sugar
  • Crystallized fruit

Instructions

Soak gelatin leaves in a small amount of cold water until they soften. Bring the milk to a slow boil, and then add the coconut and gelatin. Let boil gently for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.

When the mixture cools, strain through cheesecloth. Whip the cream and sugar until firm, then mix carefully with the coconut mixture.

Pour into a mould and chill in the refrigerator for a minimum of 3 hours.

Dip the bottom of the mould in hot water, and then turn out onto a plate. Garnish with crystallized fruit.
